It is hard to feel at ease in a cave. There is an absence of light, clarity, and shared understanding everyone fumbles in the dark, bumping into each other, unsure of what to say, or who to say it to. Missed appointment, forgotten promise, and conversations that go sideways become familiar frustrations. Even well-intended support can be misunderstood.
That’s where I come in. I help families shine a light on their strengths and challenges, build shared understanding, and find a better path forward together.
Your Cave Guide
Here’s what I believe: You don’t need someone walking into your cave and pointing out what one of you is doing wrong. That’s what a flashlight does. It singles out one person while leaving everyone else in the dark.
What you need is a lantern. A light that fills the chamber so everyone can see the same walls, understand the challenges, and find a way forward together. That’s the work I do with families.
Exploring Together
Family comes in all kinds of shapes. Sometimes it’s a parent and teenager trying to find their way through layers of frustration and good intentions. Sometimes it’s two partners learning to navigate ADHD together without one of them becoming the other’s manager.
However you come, the process is much the same. We begin together, naming what’s happening and bringing strengths and challenges into the light. Then I meet with the person being supported on their own for a while. Then we come back together to share insights and discuss next steps.
There’s a reason for the sandwich style structure. Insight that lives in only one person tends to fade after the session ends. But when everyone’s held the same light and seen the same ground, the strategies have somewhere to land. You stop navigating the cave alone, in the dark, and start navigating it together, with shared understanding.
That’s how the light extends — not one person carrying it for everyone, but everyone learning to hold it at once.
